Eight out of Eleven Councillors of Song Local Government Area of Adamawa state have took the worms of impeachment to the door steps of the council chairman, Alhaji Gidado Abdulsalam over gross misconduct.
The Councillors are accusing Alhaji Gidado Abdulsalam who also double as Adamawa State ALGON chairman by section 20(1) of Local Government system administration law (2000) of the State indicted him of gross financial misconduct.
The Councillors in a Statement made available to Newsmen in Yola laid three accusations on the chairman to include, refusal to prepare and lay before the council estimate of revenue and expenditure of the local area since inception in April 2022.
On their second allegation, they accused the chairman to have withdrawn funds from the council coffers without approval the Council members.
On their thirdly allegations, the councillors said Hon Abdulsalam Violated the oath of office by diverting bags of Rice provided by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as palliative measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
While counting the many sins of Abdulsalam, the councilors appointed accusing fingers at him for swearing in illegally the secretary to the local government without due approval from the legislative council.
According to them the situation is not only contrary to section 26(1) of the local government administrative system established as law in 2000 but contradict the moral stand of every council member.
The chairman is expected to appear before the Council Legislators in the next couple of days or impeachment process be commenced against him in earnest.
