More facts have emerge on plans by Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku to impeach the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Abel Peter Diah.
Only nine members out 24 members of the assembly.
They are Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini Lau constituency; Hon Danladi Mohammed Gwampo, Yorro Constituency; Hon Dr Jedua D Ahmad, Gembu Constituency; Hon Dominic Bukuni, Ardo Kola Constituency; Hon Capt Douglas Ndatse Yahaya, Donga constituency; Hon John Kizito Bonzena, Zing Constituency; Hon Mohammed Abdulkarim, Ibbi constituency; Hon Mohammed Gayam, Gashaka constituency; and Hon Hammanadama Abdullah from Bali 2 constituency.
The lawmakers earlier attempted to convene a sitting but rescinded on their plans after Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper broke the story.
The plan to impeach the speaker is being spearheaded by PDP chairman Victor Bala Kona and Senator Joel Ikenya.
Several Government House sources said the governor has mobilized over 200m from the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB to ‘forcefully impeach the speaker’
A reliable source said the Majority Leader in the House of Assembly, Hon. Joseph Albasu Alkinjo has been tipped to replace the speaker.
Meanwhile PDP party leaders and youths are condemning plans to impeach the speaker urging the governor to give political peace a chance in the state.
They argued that a change in the leadership of the House of Assembly might have negative effect on the developmental strides in the state.
