Mudashiru Obasa, the factional Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has revealed that he has been a loyal disciple of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since his secondary school days. Obasa made this statement during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, where he addressed the ongoing speakership crisis in the state assembly.

According to Obasa, he has always been a loyalist to Tinubu and has followed him since he contested for delegate during the Social Democratic Party (SDP) era. He claims to have pictures to prove their long-standing relationship.

Obasa’s statement comes after he stormed the assembly on Thursday with his security details and presided over a plenary session with only four lawmakers in attendance. This move has deepened the crisis in the state assembly.

When asked about his relationship with Governor Sanwo-Olu, Obasa denied any misunderstanding, stating that he has been working smoothly with the governor. He also clarified that he has no governorship ambitions, but believes he is qualified for the position.

In a separate development, Obasa claimed that the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, had resigned during a peace meeting held at the Lagos House in Marina last weekend. However, the validity of this claim has not been confirmed.
