Dr. Nimrod Musa, the esteemed President of the Nigerian Volleyball Association and a proud son of Hoba, has showered praise on Barrister Boss Mustapha, former Secretary to the Federation, for his unrelenting passion and commitment to the development of Hoba in Hong Local Government Area, particularly in uplifting its youth through sports.
In a heartfelt account, Dr. Nimrod highlighted an inspiring moment shared with Mustapha that promises to transform the sporting landscape for the region’s next generation.
The story began on Easter Monday when Dr. Nimrod and Barrister Mustapha, affectionately referred to as “Oga,” took an impromptu walk around Government Secondary School in Hong after the Easter celebrations.

What unfolded was a testament to Mustapha’s visionary leadership and dedication to community growth. “We went to the school, and typical of Oga, he noticed something critical,” Dr. Nimrod recounted. “He asked about the sporting facilities, and we discovered the students were playing basketball—but there was no volleyball court.”
This observation sparked an immediate response from Mustapha, whose zeal for progress knows no bounds. Alongside Dr. Nimrod, he engaged with students at the basketball court and quickly identified potential talent.
With the school principal present, the duo made a bold decision on the spot: to renovate two courts—one dedicated to volleyball and the other to basketball. “Oga took interest in the sporting activities of the school,” Dr. Nimrod said, beaming with admiration. “He’s a man who genuinely cares about developing the young ones in the state.”

This initiative aligns perfectly with the Nigerian Volleyball Federation’s ambitious plans, led by Dr. Nimrod, to scout top talent across Adamawa and Taraba States, with a focus on Hong and Demsa Local Government Areas in Adamawa, and two local government areas also in Taraba State.
“We found out these are areas where you’ll discover top players,” Dr. Nimrod explained. “So, we’re sending our national coaches to scout 12 top players from this school alone. We believe the potential is there, and our national team needs to be energized with fresh talent.”
Dr. Nimrod emphasized the importance of height in modern volleyball and basketball, noting, “These sports now require nothing less than six feet—anything lower doesn’t fit the context of today.” This meticulous attention to detail underscores the seriousness of the scouting mission and Mustapha’s influence in pushing for excellence.
