SSA to Gov Fintiri, Mohammed Sanusi Hong Dumps PDP, Cites Personal Conviction

Mohammed Musa Sanusi, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and former Director-General of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani)’s Senatorial campaign, has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a formal letter of resignation dated February 6, 2026, and made effective the same day, Sanusi tendered his exit from the party. The letter was addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Hong Ward, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

“I hereby formally tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective from 6th February, 2026,” the letter states. “This decision is made after careful consideration and is entirely personal. It is not influenced by any external factors, but rather by my own judgment and conviction.”

Sanusi expressed appreciation for his time in the party, thanking the leadership and members for the support and opportunities provided. “I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to serve and work alongside you. I am grateful for the support, cooperation, and experiences gained during my time with the party,” he wrote.

He concluded by wishing the PDP continued progress and success in its future endeavors.

Sanusi’s resignation letter highlights his personal conviction as the sole reason for leaving, distancing it from any external pressures or immediate plans to join another party. No details on his next political step were mentioned in the document.

As a key figure in Adamawa politics, Sanusi previously served as campaign DG for Senator Binani (APC) during her 2023 governorship bid against Governor Fintiri (PDP), before aligning with the PDP and assuming the role of SSA to the governor. His departure adds to recent resignations within the PDP in Adamawa State and across Nigeria, amid shifting political alignments ahead of future elections.

The move may prompt further discussions on internal party dynamics at the ward and local government levels in Hong LGA, a politically active area in the state.
