In a significant move aimed at bolstering economic growth and creating job opportunities for the youth, the Adamawa State Government has pledged to enhance its tourism sites and leverage its natural resources. This promise was made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri during the recent launch of the Sukur Kingdom stamps, underscoring the state’s commitment to cultural heritage and tourism development.
The event took place in Rugudum, Madagali local government area of adamawa State, where Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, represented Governor Fintiri. In her address, Kofulto reiterated the administration’s dedication to upgrading key tourism sites, particularly the Sukur Kingdom, a UNESCO-recognized historical site known for its unique cultural landscape and traditional practices.

The launch event also saw the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aloysius Babadoke, express gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his unwavering support in promoting tourism in the region. Although World Tourism Day was originally slated for September 16, 2023, it has been rescheduled to November 16, 2024, due to the flood disaster that impacted several communities in the Madagali Local Government area.
Babadoke noted that the change allowed the state government to prioritize disaster response while emphasizing the necessity of celebrating and nurturing the tourism sector.
