The Adamawa State Government, in a bold move to shape a productive and secure future for its youth, hosted a two-day validation workshop for the draft Adamawa State Youth Policy at the Government House Conference Hall. Organized in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the State Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongside the Adamawa State Planning Commission (ASPC), the event marks a significant step toward fostering youth development in the state.
The workshop, facilitated by the House Committees on Youth and Finance & Appropriation, alongside the Technical Committee that drafted the policy, aimed to review and refine the document to ensure its alignment with the state’s vision.
Representing the Hon. Commissioner of Youth, the Permanent Secretary emphasized the timeliness of the policy, stating, “This document arrives at a critical moment when we must guide our youth toward productivity and safety in an increasingly challenging era.”
The Executive Chairman of ASPC, represented by the Permanent Secretary, pledged unwavering commitment to the policy’s implementation once it is passed by the State Assembly, assuring stakeholders of its diligent execution.

Meanwhile, Dr. Danladi Idrisa, State Director of UNFPA, in his keynote address, praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s open-door policy, which has enabled development partners to contribute meaningfully to the state’s growth. “UNFPA remains dedicated to supporting Adamawa State in multiple areas through our partnership,” Dr. Idrisa affirmed.
The workshop saw robust participation from key stakeholders, including the Ministries of Youth & Sports and Women Affairs, ASPC, and other development partners, all united in their commitment to empowering Adamawa’s youth. As the state moves closer to finalizing this landmark policy, the initiative underscores Adamawa’s proactive approach to addressing the needs and aspirations of its young population.
The event concludes today, with expectations high for the policy’s swift passage and transformative impact on the state’s youth.
