United States President Donald Trump says he has asked the Defence Department to prepare for a possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.

Trump disclosed this in a statement on his Truth Social platform on Saturday.

This warning followed Trump’s Friday designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged Christian genocide.

The US President, in a fresh statement, further warned that it would also immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria.

Trump stressed that the US may storm “that now disgraced country, guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists committing these horrible atrocities.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, “guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! > WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a CPC has continued to generate reactions from Nigerians.

But President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian government have, in separate statements, rejected Trump’s label.
