In a blistering attack, the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has unleashed a scathing rebuke against Reno Omokri, a controversial public commentator and self-styled pastor, accusing him of treachery, hypocrisy, and desperate opportunism in his recent political alignments.
The statement, dripping with vitriol, labels Omokri a “Judas Iscariot” and an “ashawo kobo kobo,” alleging that his loyalty is as fleeting as “quicksand” and his credibility a “mockery.”
The statement, issued by Atiku’s media team, comes amid Omokri’s vocal support for President Bola Tinubu and his apparent shift away from his previous affiliations.

Atiku’s team specifically called out Omokri’s attacks on Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, questioning what Obi did to deserve Omokri’s “endless, pedestrian, vitriolic, and arcebic” criticism. They suggested that Obi’s rising popularity posed a threat to Omokri’s ego, prompting his relentless onslaught.

The phrase “ashawo kobo kobo” — a derogatory slang implying cheap opportunism — was used to underscore Omokri’s perceived political promiscuity, with the camp alleging he seeks a “political wife in Tinubu and a side chick in Atiku.”
In a pointed challenge, Atiku’s team urged Omokri to address lingering controversies surrounding President Tinubu, including questions about a certificate allegedly awarded to “Bola A. Tinubu” by Government College Lagos in 1970, two years before the school’s establishment.

They also called on him to support demands for the FBI to release Tinubu’s alleged drug-related records in the United States, questioning whether Omokri’s newfound loyalty has silenced his previous criticisms of Tinubu’s past.

Omokri, known for his outspoken social media presence and authorship of self-help books, has yet to publicly respond to the statement.
The attack highlights the deepening political divides in Nigeria as factions jostle for influence ahead of future elections. For now, Atiku’s camp has made it clear they view Omokri as a symbol of betrayal, with no place in their vision for Nigeria’s political landscape.
