Electricity workers under the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) have shut down all power installations, and offices across the country plunging the country into total darkness.
The President of United Labour Congress (ULC) and General Secretary of NUEE, Comd. Joe Ajaero announced a strike action on Wednesday.
The duo stated that the strike took off immediately after the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum on Tuesday night.
They warned that the blackout will continue as long as the government failed to dialogue and resolve the issues in contention.
NUEE had, on Wednesday, commenced a strike action, following a 21-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government.
The Union had tried to engage the Federal Government but the government failed to dialogue with the workers.
In the meantime, the Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has summoned the leadership of NUEE to an emergency reconciliatory meeting by 8 pm, Wednesday night.
More details of the strike action and the meeting will unfold.
