Subsidy Removal: Gov Fintiri to Commission Green Vile CNG Station, State-of-the-Art Vehicle Inspection Centre in Adamawa

In a bold move to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is set to commission the Green Vile Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station and a cutting-edge computerized vehicle inspection centre in Adamawa State.

These projects, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Policy Initiative, aim to provide affordable energy solutions and enhance road safety for residents.

The GreenVille CNG station, located along Yola-Gombe Road near Adamawa City Gate, is a pioneering project for the North East region. During an inspection visit led by the Adamawa State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Wunfe B. Anthony, Greenville CNG Director, Mr. Chris Nathaniel, described the station as a game-changer for vehicle fuel, industrial, and domestic energy needs.

“This is the first of its kind in the North East, offering cheaper and cleaner gas to the people,” Nathaniel stated. The station is scheduled for commissioning on May 27, 2025.

The Retail General Manager, Mr. M. Gokul highlighted the benefits of CNG, explaining that the gas is compressed to a fraction of its original volume, making it easier to store and transport.

“CNG is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel source, particularly for vehicles,” Gokul noted. The initiative supports President Tinubu’s policy to promote CNG as a viable alternative to petrol, delivering economic and environmental advantages amid subsidy removal challenges.

In another development, Governor Fintiri will soon commission the Adamawa State Computerized Vehicle Inspection Centre, located behind the Intercity Motor Park along Yemi Osibanjo Road, Yola North.

The facility, inspected by Hon. Wunfe alongside ministry officials, is equipped to diagnose vehicle faults, including engines, tires, braking systems, and overall functionality.

Centre Coordinator Mallam Yaya Tukur emphasized the facility’s advanced capabilities, stating, “This centre is a well-equipped hub to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.” Government vehicles will receive free diagnostics, while private vehicle owners will pay a nominal fee of N2,500 for annual inspections.

Joseph T. Shuwa, Adamawa State Director of Road Traffic Administration, urged the public to utilize the centre, noting its potential to reduce road accidents significantly.
