Nigeria’s Armed Forces are taking a strong stance against terrorism and banditry, particularly in the northern regions. Major General Oluyinka Soyele, Theatre Commander of Operation Fansar Yamma, has issued a stern warning to terrorists: surrender or face the consequences of military firepower. This operation aims to liberate Zamfara and neighboring states from the grip of terrorism.

Zamfara State has been plagued by banditry, with daily attacks on the Gusau-Funtua Highway. Soyele assures that the military is prepared to launch a decisive onslaught to flush out the terrorists. However, he emphasizes the crucial role of local support in winning this war. The military urges citizens to provide timely information to help root out terrorists from their hideouts.
Major General Soyele made this position known during a visit to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State at the Government House in Gusau. “We are more committed than ever to make sure that Zamfara State and all other Northwest states and part of the North Central are free from all terrorist activities,” he stated. “We are much more than ready to take the battle to them; it is either they surrender or they die.”

Governor Lawal noted that the state government is aware of the terrorists’ attacks on the Gusau-Funtua highway and is ready to deal with the challenge to restore normalcy and peace.
The establishment of Operation Fansar Yamma, announced by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, demonstrates the military’s commitment to combating terrorism in the region.
