Suspension of Hong LG Chair looms as all Councillors,Sec dissolved by Adamawa Assembly

An adder of Suspension is looming and dangling on the neck of Hong Local Government Area Chairman of Adamawa state,Hon James Pukuma as State Assembly has passed a resolution dissolving all supervisory councillors and Secretary of the area for alledgely violating laws establishing Local Government Administration in their appointment.

Similarly the House has also directed the Chairman, Councillors and Clerk of Hong Local Government stop anything regarding the issue and appear before it unfailingly on Tuesday seventeen March twenty twenty to explain on the allegations against them.

The House resolution followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by the member Yola North constituency Alhaji Hamidu Sajoh Lekki on the floor of the House during Monday’s resumed plenary session on bridged of the Local Government Councils law number four of two thousand.

According to Lekki, any appointment to the office or supervisory councillor of a local government shall be sponsored by a political party and if the nomination of any person to such Office is confirmed by the council be made to the Chairman of Local Government and there shall be a Secretary to the local government who shall be appointed by the Chairman subject to the approval of the legislative council of the local government.

The mover of the motion after presenting relevant sections of the Constitution said the council Chairman of Hong Local Government have recently sworn in Secretary to the council and supervisory councillors without the Confirmation of the legislative council, praying to the House to intervene, reverse and administer disciplinary action on who so ever contravene the law.

Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas constituted an Ad-hoc Committee to investigate Hong Local Government Area and all the remaining Local Government areas across state to check either they have complied with the law or not and report within one and two weeks respectively.

The Committee has Chairman House Standing Committee on legislative compliance Alhaji Alhassan Hammanjoda as Chairman, others are Mr Adwawa Donglok of public Petition, public service and Electoral Matters, Umar Nashon Ngubi of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdullahi Umar Yapak of Interpaliamentary Affairs and the mover of the motion Hamidu Sajoh Lekki member representing Yola North as members.

After thorough deliberation and contributions on the motion the lawmakers resolve to invite the Chairman, councillors and clerk of Hong Local Government Area to appear before them Tuesday to answer some allegations against them.

Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the plenary session directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to the those affected for compliance.
