Tobacco is killing our Youth, Hong Adamawa community l’ders cry out for help

Community leaders of Dugwaba in the Hong Local Government area of Adamawa State have cried out for help over the incessant use of tobacco leaves by the Youth of the area.

The District Head end of Dugwaba who is the Barden Adamawa, Mr. Simon Buba made the call during an interactive session in Garage, the Headquarters of Dugwaba for the Youth to shun indiscriminate smoking.

The traditional leader said that smoking habit is degenerating into something else thereby claiming the lives of many youths in the community.

He condemned the behavioral change that is leading to social menace Killing the Youth who are supposed to be leaders of tomorrow and the backbone of every society.

Buba addressed all the Village Heads of the District and charged them to take an onward message to all the youth of the District.

He called on the government to Create a massive awareness program to enlighten the Youth on the Dangers of smoking and how it will lead to untimely death.

He however said moof of the time the Youth are accused of poor governance and are not responsible enough to create job opportunities as the only thing that will help keep their minds from the illicit life of smoking.

He reminded them that all smokers are liable to die young because of diseases caused by smoking.

The town hall meeting of the village heads and District Head of Dugwaba was an initiative of
Njir Hoba multipurpose cooperative group and the Director General, of West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA), Barr Chafari Shedrach Kanya.

Her support for community development has triggered this event to salvage the deteriorating state of Youth in the Dugwaba areas over smoking.
