Spurred by startling revelations by Taraba state Governor, Darius Dickson Isiyaku over possible attack in the state, a concern group, Taraba Concern Citizen Forum (TCCF), has called on Nigerian security to not only take proactive measures how should also investigate the governor.
In a statement on Saturday, the group Coordinator, Barr. Muhammad Bello Mustapha said that, ‘’ he should be summoned to Abuja to devolve his source and government act quickly.’’
‘’As concerned citizens, we are constrained with the unfolding developments in Taraba State. The Governor of the State DDI, having declared that the State will be attacked in the next 10 days, now eight days to go, is alarming and a source of worry, being the Chief Security Officer.
‘’ We therefore call/urge the Federal Government of Nigeria both the National Assembly and the Executive arm to as a matter of urgent National Security call Governor Darius Ishaku to give details on the impending attack on the State.
‘’ Those behind the attack ,their target, objective and mission.
Failure of which an urgent step be declared to forestall or avert any breakdown of law and order which may lead us to anarchy that may engulf the entire Country. God forbid,’’ the group urges.
Also reacting Danladi Yorro regrets that,’’ This is callous and reckless remarks in modern history. How can he have such an intelligence report and held it and release it only to a visiting party chairman?
‘’How relevant is this information to the event? Is it not a self-indictment expressing his weakness as governor or is it he is the one that hatched the plan to attack the state? My God! may Allah save as from wickedness and weakness of some of our leaders,’’ he fumes.
Also corroborating, Yohanna Mayo-Lope said that, ‘’ It’s unfortunate people are playing politics with people lives.
‘’ Mr Governor you should have explain why is Taraba targeted to be attacked and by who?
‘’ So, we are calling on the Federal Government to act promptly because one could see sinister move or hidden agenda.He first told the world that helicopter stocked piled with ammunitions landed, and here he is today telling us, attack is imminent in few days to come.
‘’ Security should act hurriedly , because this is the fifth times if I may recall the governor is making such allegations, why is he praying doom for our beloved Taraba state, something went wrong somewhere! ’’ He exclaimed.
Governor Ishaku had earlier told the PDP delegation, which was led by the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, that peace had become a scarce commodity in the state.
“When I assumed office, I asked my people to give me peace and that I would give development in return. Peace is elusive in Taraba, but we have development. Here I am as a governor with a crown, but without a sword.
“You call police and security agencies for help, they will tell you they need to clear from Abuja before acting. Before you know it, you have lost 100 people.
“When you call for help, the help takes ages to come. We need to restructure the security architecture of this country. You take one step forward as the governor, the almighty Federal Government takes you back 10 miles.
“The police we have can’t help themselves. In 10 days’ time, we will be attacked. Helicopters dropped arms here at night for hoodlums.
“We will talk because if the Federal Government cannot help us, let those who can help us come to our aid,’’ said the governor .
The Taraba State Police command denied receiving any information from the governor.
The police spokesman in the state David Misal had in a telephone chat said , “As far as the command is concerned, we are yet to receive any letter from the governor. I am not aware that the governor informed us about any impending attack.”
