A retired Senior police officer in Taraba State Superintendent (SP) Robert Andrew Nariniba (Rtd) has expressed worry over the high rate of insecurity currently going on across the Country.
SP Andrew Nariniba, (Rtd), who said the story was different when he joined the Nigeria Police Force some thirty five (35) years ago.
He spoke to Journalists shortly after his Retirement Thanksgiving Service held Weekend in Jalingo, the State capital.
“When I joined the Police some thirty five years ago, we didn’t have any security challenges”,
“There was nothing like boko haram, armed banditry, Fulani herdsmen, Nigerians were living peacefully with one another, the Country was united, there was love on the land”, he said.
According to him, the problems Nigerians are having presently are attributed to lack of love saying, if there is love, people will not carry arms against one another.
As a result of wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent Nigerians, Nariniba lamented, “there is pressure on governments at all level, the Security apparatus has been disorganized in the Nation”,
“To protect the lives of defenceless Nigerians who are being killed mercilessly, the Police and other Security Personnel suffer the same fate by losing their lives daily”, he added.
While calling on Nigerians to intensify prayers to curb the menace of insecurity for the safety of all citizens and his colleagues who are still in the field, the retired Police officer said he is thanking God for the grace to retire peacefully after serving his father land for a period of thirty five (35) years.
“I am thanking God for bringing me peacefully back home, I am not better than those killed, those being slaughtered, it is just the grace of God that made it possible for me and my family members to be here today”, he said.
He however, prayed God to help his colleagues who according to him are still in active service but cautioned them from engaging in illegalities.
“Let them do the right thing, let them do justice to their job, let them not be engaged in illegalities. When they engage in illegalities, it will be difficult for them to retire successfully”, he added.
Our Correspondent gathered that the Retirement Thanksgiving Service of SP Robert Andrew Nariniba was held at the Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC), Abuja Phase 1, Jalingo.
“The Guest Speaker, Rev. Philip Micah Dopah, Director, Correctional Ministries of the Southern Nigeria Conference of UMC called on Believers to imbibe the spirit of Thanksgiving to God”,
Rev. Dopah, who spoke on the topic, Giving Thanksgiving to God”, quoted Psalm 100:1-5, 1 Thesalonians 5:18 to buttress his facts”, our Reporter stated.
