Tax Ombud Unveils Digital Platforms to Improve Taxpayer Services

The Office of the Tax Ombud has launched a new website, digital Call Centre Portal, and integrated Case Management System as part of efforts to improve taxpayer engagement and ensure faster resolution of complaints across the country.

The initiative is aimed at modernising the institution’s operations while providing taxpayers with a more transparent, accessible, and efficient platform for lodging complaints and tracking the resolution of their cases.

Speaking on the development, John Nwabueze, Tax Ombud and Chief Executive of the Office of the Tax Ombud, commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and commitment to reforms designed to strengthen Nigeria’s tax system.

According to Dr. Nwabueze, the establishment of the Office of the Tax Ombud represents one of the most significant institutional reforms under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with a focus on promoting fairness, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in tax administration.

He explained that the newly launched digital platforms would enhance communication between taxpayers and the Office, improve case management processes, and support public enlightenment efforts on taxpayers’ rights and obligations.

Dr. Nwabueze noted that the Office of the Tax Ombud was created to strengthen taxpayer protection, boost public confidence in the tax system, and provide an independent mechanism for resolving disputes between taxpayers and tax authorities.

He added that the institution remains committed to delivering accessible, timely, and cost-effective services that encourage voluntary tax compliance while ensuring that taxpayer concerns are addressed fairly and efficiently.

The launch of the digital platforms is expected to improve service delivery and reinforce the Office’s role as an independent and impartial body dedicated to promoting accountability and trust within Nigeria’s tax administration framework.
