Senator Jonathan Silas  Zwingina Laid to  Rest in Adamawa State

The remains of Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina, a renowned Nigerian leader, were laid to rest in his hometown of Guyuk, Adamawa State, amidst tears and tributes from dignitaries and well-wishers.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaleptawa Farauta, led a delegation of top government officials, senators, and other prominent Nigerians to pay their last respects to the late senator.

Senator Zwingina, who passed away on October 2, 2024, after a prolonged illness, was described as a “champion of democratic values and a true Nigerian patriot” by Ex-Minister of Information Labaran Maku.

Senator Abubakar Moallayidi eulogized Zwingina as “a leader who embodied integrity, humility, and selflessness,” while praising his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development. senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo described late Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina a true unionist,a nationalist and a Democrat who is passionate about the corporate existence of Nigeria.

As Director-General of the MKO Abiola campaign Organisation in the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Zwingina fought tirelessly for democratic ideals. He also chaired the board of trustees of Save Democracy Group.

The burial ceremony, held at Dansanda Square, Guyuk, was attended by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s representative, Deputy Governor Prof. Kaleptawa Farauta, Senator Abubakar Moallayidi, Ex-Minister of Information Labaran Maku, representatives of former Senate Presidents Ken Nnamani and David Mark, church leaders from the Baptist Church, CAN officials, and the three Senators representing Adamawa State.

The gathering honored Senator Zwingina’s memory and reaffirmed their commitment to the values he embodied: selfless service, unwavering integrity, and unrelenting passion for a better Nigeria
