Kirchinga is the hometown of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, making the brazen assault particularly alarming and a stark reminder of the fragile security situation in the region.

Eyewitnesses and family sources told SaharaReporters that the gunmen stormed Hon. Sini’s residence late Sunday night, dragged him and his two sons from their home, and ordered them to march into the surrounding forest.

According to a family member who spoke on condition of anonymity, the former councillor pleaded with the attackers, explaining that he suffered from diabetes and hypertension and was physically unable to undertake the journey into the bush.

“He begged them, telling them he was sick and couldn’t walk that far. He even offered to pay any ransom they wanted if they would spare him and take only the money,” the source said.

The terrorists reportedly rejected any negotiation. They took Hon. Sini to the outskirts of the village where they shot him dead in cold blood before fleeing with his two sons into the night.

Residents described scenes of panic as gunfire echoed through the community, with many families locking themselves indoors, fearing the attackers could strike again.

One villager told reporters, “We have suffered these sporadic attacks for years, but this one hits too close. Kirchinga is the Governor’s village. If they can come here and do this, then nowhere is safe.”

The incident has deepened fear among residents of Madagali LGA, an area that has repeatedly come under attack by terrorist elements operating from nearby forest hideouts.

As at press time, neither the Adamawa State Government nor the police command has issued an official statement on the attack. Security operatives have reportedly been deployed to the area, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted boys and track down the perpetrators.

The killing of Hon. Thlama Sini and the abduction of his sons mark yet another tragic chapter in the prolonged insecurity plaguing parts of Adamawa and neighboring states in northern Nigeria.
