TETFund Director of Research, Dr. Bakari Girei, Graces Michika Chiefdom Annual Cultural Festival in Adamawa State

The Director of Research at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Dr. Salisu Bakari Girei, graced the annual cultural festival of the Michika Chiefdom in Adamawa State, describing it as a vital platform for preserving culture, history, and unity among communities.

Dr. Girei arrived at the event venue in a distinguished entourage from Yola, where he was warmly received by traditional rulers, community leaders, and other invited guests.

The colourful celebration attracted dignitaries from different parts of the state and beyond, underscoring the festival’s importance in promoting cultural heritage and social cohesion.

A renowned historian, Dr. Girei has consistently demonstrated his passion for cultural and historical gatherings.

He has often emphasized that such occasions provide valuable opportunities to document indigenous traditions and strengthen community identity.

Attending cultural events has become a cherished personal tradition for him, serving as platforms for learning, research, and meaningful cultural exchange.

The highlight of the festival included the turbaning of district heads and the conferment of traditional titles on deserving personalities.

Among those honoured was the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who was bestowed with a prestigious traditional title in recognition of his contributions to peace, development, and support for traditional institutions in the state.

The ceremony was witnessed by traditional rulers, government officials, scholars, and members of the public.

Dr. Girei commended the organizers for sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the Michika people.

He also encouraged continuous collaboration between traditional institutions, researchers, and government agencies to preserve history for future generations.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Salisu Bakari Girei departed the venue with a deep sense of satisfaction and appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and his entourage.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting cultural initiatives and historical research that promote unity, peace, and development across communities in Adamawa State.
