‎Mr. Tom Garba, the publisher of TGnews, has proudly congratulated the Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, on his recent conferment of an honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) by the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State.

‎The accolade was bestowed during the grand finale of FUOYE’s 10th Convocation ceremonies on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Bishop Kukah, a renowned advocate for peace, justice, and national unity, was recognized for his exemplary leadership, moral courage, prolific writings, and tireless contributions to Nigerian society.

The university highlighted his role as a positive influence on the younger generation and his profound impact on countless lives across the country.

‎Bishop Kukah also delivered the convocation lecture at the event, held at the Victor Ndoma-Egba Auditorium, where he emphasized the importance of national cohesion, inclusiveness, and effective management of Nigeria’s diversity for sustainable development.

‎The ceremony saw honorary doctorates conferred on other prominent figures, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III (CFR); the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen (GCON); and the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju Adugbole. These honors celebrated their exemplary service to humanity and national progress.

‎In his congratulatory message, Mr. Tom Garba hailed Bishop Kukah’s achievement with deep pride. “We are proud of our Daddy and grateful for the honour this recognition brings to us,” Garba stated.

“It reaffirms the core values of integrity, service, and social justice that guide our work and Bishop Kukah’s lifelong mission.”
