Bishop Charles Hammawa, Catholic Bishop of the Jalingo Diocese has said that the death of Rev Fr. David Tanko should signal an end to the perennial crisis between Tiv and Jukun.
The bishop made the call on Tuesday at the burrial ceremony of the slain clergy whom the sad event occurred along Wukari Takum road in Taraba.
Rev. Tanko was burried at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chatedral Cemetery in Jalingo.
The bishop who read his sermon from a prepared text and drown from the book of Matthew admonished christians to learn how to forgive one another.
He called for the intervention of all to find lasting solution to the perennial crisis between the Tivs/ Jukuns as well as other parts of the country.
Tgnews recalls that his murder which came barely 24 hours after some youths raided villages in the State killing two people is the latest in a string of killings since the escalation on April 1, 2019 of a perennial conflict between the Tivs and Jukuns in Taraba State.
The conflict dates as far back as 1991 and has consumed more than a hundred of people in the past five months, with Fr. Tanko as the most prominent.
