This is not just a personal recognition, but a proud testament to the collective progress of Adamawa State. These recognitions, mirrors the impactful reforms, unwavering commitment to education, technology and transformational leadership that have defined governance under Fintiri. As the accolades pour in, they remind us that true leadership is seen, felt, and celebrated far beyond the borders of the state.

From the capital city of Yola to the remotest rural communities, Adamawa State is being reshaped by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s ambitious infrastructure agenda. His administration has pursued a comprehensive plan of urban renewal, rural development, and connectivity—all intended to modernize the state, stimulate economic activity, and bring essential services closer to its people.

Strategic Flyovers and Underpasses: Easing Traffic and Shaping Modern Adamawa
One of the most transformative infrastructural interventions under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration through the Ministry of Works and Energy Development, headed by its dynamic and dedicated commissioner, Hon.
Adamu Atiku, is the construction of multiple flyovers and underpasses at key traffic junctions across the metropolitan city of Jimeta. These projects are not just engineering landmarks; they are practical solutions designed to ease congestion, enhance road safety, and modernize the urban transport landscape of Adamawa State.
At the heart of Jimeta, the Police Roundabout Grade Interchange and the Fire Service Roundabout Underpass stand out as game changers.
These locations have historically been traffic choke points and accident spots, especially during peak hours. The new grade-separated structures now allow for a free flow of traffic, reducing travel time for thousands of commuters daily and significantly cutting down on vehicular emissions caused by prolonged idling in traffic, and also adding beauty to the city.
Beyond these, the government has undertaken the construction of multiple flyovers across the capital city, each strategically positioned to address specific mobility challenges: Lamido Aliyu Flyover (Total Filling Station): This iconic structure being the first, eases the heavy traffic at the busy Total junction, one of the city’s most critical transit points that access the Jimeta Modern Market and Bank areas.
Mubi Round-about Flyover: Positioned along one of the state’s busiest commercial corridors. This flyover enhances connectivity between the business districts and residential areas leading to Hayin Gada, old market and the Jimeta Ultra modern market, improving both commerce and daily commuting.
The 7-Span Overhead Bridge at Yola–A. A. Lawan Junction: This engineering marvel ensures seamless vehicular movement on this major highway, reducing accidents and improving inter-city travel from Yola town, and linking the super-highway coming from welcome to Yola.
The Half Cloverleaf Interchange at Yola–Numan Road: A first of its kind in Adamawa, this interchange provides smooth directional changes for motorists without the usual bottlenecks associated with traditional intersections – travelling into the city, the interchange gives you option of plying the airport road to the city, or interchanging through the super highway that leads through barracks road.
The importance of these flyovers and underpasses cannot be overstated. For daily commuters, this means faster and safer journeys to work, school, and marketplaces. For transporters and businesses, they translate into lower operational costs, increased delivery efficiency, and better access to urban centers.

Roads, Bridges, and Highways – Connecting People, Transforming Communities
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration has continued to place strategic priority on road infrastructure — not just as physical assets, but as lifelines of economic growth, social connection, and urban renewal. Each project across Adamawa State is deliberately targeted to open up communities, ease traffic congestion, and stimulate commerce and mobility:
Expansion of Galadima Aminu Way, and construction of underpass at Fire Service Roundabout; 20–20.8 km Super Highway in Yola, from FGGC to Rumde Kila to to AA Lawan Junction; Construction of 18.3 km road network (3.5 km main access + 14.8 km internal) in the Federal Housing Estate Bajabure, Girei; Bekaji Housing Estate internal road network, Yolde Pate Road leading to barracks road.
The Girei–Pariya–Wuro Bokki Road (Phase 1), ~18 km and Mararraba Garta to Kamale road with bridges in Michika LGA. Others include: Maiha – Fulbere – Zhedinyi – Pella – Mararaba Pella Road, 16.648km Internal Road Network at the 1000 Housing Units in Malkohi, 1.95km Township Roads and 140m of 1.5m X 1.0m Outfall Drain in Madagali, Emergency Temporary Repairs of Washout Road Section along Michika-Maiduguri Federal Highway, 3-Span Bridge with Approaches Across River Wuro-Ngayadi in Madagali, Market Upgrade Erosion/Flood Control in 12 different Markets in the State, 2.5m x 1.2m double cells box culvert and dredging of inlet and outlet of the culvert along the Mararraba Mubi-Michika- Maiduguri Federal Highway at Uba, Hong LGA, 1.5m x 1m x 175m Concrete drain beside the roundabout near Jippu Jam, Yola Town, 7.5km Mararraban Garta to Kamale road in Michika, Construction/Extension of 2.4Km Concrete Storm Water Drain from FGGC to Behind the Airforce Comprehensive Secondary School, 12-Span Bridge with Approach Road 1000m in Shuwa along Mubi-Maraba-Michika-Maiduguri Federal Highway, 4-Span Bridge with Approach Road 400m in Hyembula along Mubi-Maraba-Michika-Maiduguri Federal Highway, Construction and Repairs of Failed Embankment of Gamu Bridge along Ganye – Toungo Road in Toungo, 5.7Km Maiha Township Roads, 24km Maiha – Mubi Road, 4.6Km internal road networks within the Army Barrack in Yola North, Rehabilitation/Desilting of Storm Water Drains in the State Capital, Construction of Storm Water Drain at Samunaka Road along FGGC, Yola, construction of the 14km Sukur Road in Madagali LGA – an important cultural and tourism route leading to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sukur, this road is boosting local tourism, enhancing cultural pride, and stimulating small businesses in the area and many other access roads.
The benefits of these road projects are profound; reduced travel time and traffic congestion, enhanced economic activities through easier movement of passengers, goods and services, improved access to healthcare, education, and administrative centers, better safety for motorists and pedestrians, greater social integration between urban and rural communities, cleaner environments, higher property values and create access to opportunities.

Electrification Project and Water Supply – Bringing Light and Development to Adamawa Communities
Efforts to expand access to reliable electricity and portable drinking water are beginning to reshape the socio-economic landscape of several communities across Adamawa State. Recent electrification initiatives under the Fintiri administration are improving living standards, stimulating local economies, and helping previously disconnected communities reintegrate into the state’s development grid.
While pipe-bone water is improving the WASH of communities across LGAs including Primary Health Centres:
Provision of electricity and potable water for 5,000 residents of the New Fintiri 1,000 -housing-units project in Malkohi; Reconnection of Michika and Madagali LGAs to the national grid (after damage by Boko Haram); electrification of Toungo; and the connection of Tahau community in Demsa LGA.
Other key water projects & Interventions by Governor Fintiri includes: Yola South Urban Water Supply Revamp in partnership with the world Bank – MCRP. Through the partnership, Adamawa State has rehabilitated the Yola Urban Water Supply System, laying new transmission line from Jippu Jam to an elevated tank (Adamawa State Water Board District Office), a ~15 km distribution network covering Yola town and environs.
Upgrade and Rehabilitation of Water Treatment Plants & Infrastructure in Jimeta – Yola, including overhauling pumps, installing cables/pipes, erecting/welding reservoirs. The Plants now supply approximately 23 million litres/day to Jimeta environs.
Refurbishment of water treatment plants in Numan and Mubi, which had been non-functional for years to supply portable drinking water to residents. And the upgrade/rehabilitation of water schemes in many communities: Gulak, Hong, Uba, Michika, Pella, Garkida, Maiha, Gombi, etc.
In particular, Gulak is getting upgrades (including reticulation ~12.4 km) as noted in the 2025 revised budget of Adamawa state.
Over 40 solar powered boreholes were completed, and 295 hand-pump boreholes constructed in the 7 LGAs affected by insurgency.
New Improved Water Storage Facilities, which contracts have been signed to build large storage tanks (ground and elevated) in Yola to help with storage and distribution: 3,500 m³ ground steel storage tank in Jimeta; 1,500 m³ elevated tank near the Deputy Governor’s House.
To improve water supply scheme in the state, Governor Fintiri have backed his actions with Legislation & Policy – in November 2024, Adamawa State passed the Adamawa State Water Supply and Sanitation Services Law 2024.
Education Infrastructure: Construction of ₦17.1 billion three mega Senior Science Secondary Schools: located in Lamurde, Gulak, and Hong LGAs. Build and renovated over 5,000 classrooms and office blocks, examination halls, laboratories, libraries, across schools in the state; to back and actualize all educational policies and actions of government.
Housing, Urban Renewal, & Estates: Construction of 1,000 housing units at Malkohi, now on sales, and the construction of internal roads in networks in housing estates across the state.
Markets, Recreation and other Amenities: Construction of ₦19.7 Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex in Jimeta, which is aimed to create a modern commercial hub with state-of-the-art facilities to boost commercial activities, attract investment. Continuation and expansion of the Adamawa state stadium/sports complex; to improve sporting activities in the state and create a homebase stadium for the Adamawa United, to stimulate sports affiliated businesses. The Governor has also approval for a modern amusement/leisure park in Adamawa, to remodel the old Jimeta zoo and amusement park into a modern leisure and recreational park.
