Erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Engineer Babachir David Lawal has confirmed to this medium that one Isaac Tanko is behind the voice note linked to him that went viral calling on Christians to retaliate against the killing of Deborah Samuel by some Youth in Sokoto over blasphemy comments.
According to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain that he has read and heard so many comments, with some well-intentioned and outrightly malicious regarding the now infamous Voice Note that is in very wide circulation targeting his person and his character.
The Adamawa APC bigwig said he feels a point of correction and clarification is apt here over the audio some people still find it an issue of public discourse.
“The man whose voice is on the voice note (one Isaac Tanko) phoned me on Saturday morning to explain his role in the saga.
“He admits it was him that made the voice notes on a group chart which he did not intend to circulate outside the group. But someone else (either a member of the group chat or who had access to it) out of mischief, took the voice note, edited it by adding my picture and the narration (thus making it look like it was me that made it), and proceeded to circulate it on the social media.
“My conclusion on the matter is that the said Isaac Tanko never set out to malign me personally. “So, while I am not in anyway condoning his utterances, I feel he is as much a victim as myself”
“Therefore those firing insults and curses on him are most unjustified if the motive is to defend me. They are targeting the wrong person. To my mind, the guilty person is the one who did the editing and reposting. ” Lawal said
He continued to say that the person who did the editing and reposting was unmindful of the fact that he is an Information Technology practitioner with an experience of over 42 years
“I have the skills and resources to track the voice note to the point where it first entered the social media. It is only a matter of time, and the person will be exposed, reported to law enforcement authorities, arrested, and prosecuted. There is no hiding place for him/her. ” He said
David while calling for prayers for the well-being of Nigeria, especially the Northern part of the country,he urged for patience and forgiveness as according to him if people (including him) do not forgive one another, they cannot expect forgiveness for their sins.
“Meanwhile I wish to thank all those who stood by me. The support has been overwhelming from millions of people around the globe. Your posting and reposting of supporting comments on all applications on social media have been overwhelming, almost to a breaking point.
“The wicked perpetrators have been roundly defeated and disgraced. I have even been made to understand that some of their early collaborators have been posting apologies and regrets.
“If I had known that people love me this much, I would have sold 125 cows from my ranch to buy the APC Presidential nomination form.
“May God reward all your kindness and protect you from the wickedness of men such as went after me.” He said
