The mirage of roads construction under Gov. Elrufai, Saminaka/Bauchi road a case study

The communities of Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State have Considered the rehabilitation of the 12 klm road that links the borders towns of Bauchi and Kaduna State into a mere illusion of far fetch reality.

This is owing to the fact that the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Elrufai had awarded the contract to last for three months to reconstruct the road but ended up a mirage as the work is taken more time than necessary, lasting more than 14 months without faith of when to do it.

According to a settler who identifies himself as Musa Saminaka that the company handling the road rehabilitation had since park out their heavy equipments to a place only God knows because the state government have not properly mobilised them enough.

The 12 kilometers road is the gate way of the state when coming from Bauchi state and borders with Toro LGA and a major that also network to all north Eastern states of the country.

The economy viability of the road cannot be over emphasize being the most safest and shortest which inter cities commuters founds it a more faster when wanting to reach Kaduna and Zaria or leaving Kaduna to Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Kano, Taraba and Plateau state.

The inability of the government of Kaduna State under the leadership of Elrufai is causing a serious hazards to the inhabitants of Saminaka.

A major stakeholder who pleaded to be anonymous said the efforts made by the state governor is rather harmful than help, many people are reported to be hospitalized as a result of uncalmed dust clouding the town and triggering Asthmatic patients to be in a comatose state.

“The road would have been left the way it use to be, we would have not being lamenting of our people being attacked with chronic diseases, you dare not dry clean your clothes outside or stay outside for a longer period.

Investigation done by our correspondent revealed that all the contracts awarded to construct roads in the 23 LGAs are all half way done, leaving the people to be suffocating with the resultant effects of raising dust without true knowledge of when to do it.

The story is the same in Kubau LGA where a 10 kilometers road of Dutsen Wai to Anchau is claiming lives, becoming a dead trap, awarded one year ago and the construction company have also vacate site with no assured date of coming back to do the work.

All excavated roads in Kaduna city is in a limbo stage, nothing is fast moving as regard the roads constructions.
