Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, a consummate politician is a man that has carved a niche for himself in many spheres of human endeavour.

A man with the midas touch as he is fondly called, Bindow has left an indelible mark as an administrator and equally paid his dues in the business arena.

A man with distinguished record of excellence, Bindow’s service to humanity both as a senator and as governor has remained a reference point in the annals of governance and politics in the state.

Despite the fact that he was born into a very wealthy family in the year 1965 Bindow’s humility knows no bound. Unlike most children born with a silver spoon he attended a government primary school in Mubi and two Government Secondary Schools in Hong Adamawa State and Mangu in plateau state.

Thus, he grew up with a lot of humility which most people mistook for inability. Even his foreign sojourn to the United Kingdom to acquire higher qualifications did not erase this humility which he imbibed at a younger age.

He spent most of his years in private practice as a businessman who became director of many companies and owner of several others very early in life. Within a short time on assumption of office, this highly successful business man turned successful politician had begun to manifest uncommon traits of success in human and material management.

He accomplished some feats never dreamt of in the history of Adamawa state. By the 29th of May 2015 when he became Governor, the situation in Adamawa State was indeed very distressful. He inherited a state bedevilled by high level of political instability producing eight Governors in eight years, a security situation that saw 1/3 of the state in the hands of insurgents with a large population of Internally Displaced Persons, a very poor state of finances exacerbated by a huge debt burden, totally broken down infrastructure and a host of other challenges.

Rather than be consumed by these challenges and be overwhelmed by the daunting task of reversing the situation, and rather than be Agonising and lamenting the situation met on ground, Senator Muhammad Umar Jibrilla decided to organise his leadership style around a clear vision and a defined mission.

Little wonder therefore that in just 20 months he was able to start and complete 120 roads scattered all over the State at an average of 6 roads in every month.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

Senator Bindowo’s illustrious reputation won him several awards and accolades nationally and internationally.

This distinguished Senator holds several traditional titles among which are those of SARDAUNAN MUBI, DALLATUN MUGULVU and DUJIMAN PAKKA.

He is a sportsmanlike personality, widely travelled to all the continents of the world. He is happily married and blessed with several children.

PUBLIC SERVICE CAREER

Bindow’s magnetic personality and business acumen earned him the positions of Director on the Boards of the defunct Highland Bank Nigeria Plc., Nexus Communication, International Business Trade Oriented Nigeria Ltd., ALFA-MORA Merchandise Nig. Ltd., JIB Insurance Company Ltd.

He is also the Executive Director of Jimpex Energy Services Ltd., Chairman of Jimpex International, and Pinnacle Automations Ltd.

A successful Entrepreneur, Senator Muhammad Jibrilla also established several high profile Business ventures including Bindowo Vegetable Oil Industries, Bindowo Agro-Allied Ltd, Bindowo Soap and Aluminum.

He was a gubernatorial aspirant under the National Democratic Party in 2003. The courteous and forthright Bindowo also emerged as Senator representing the Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State in 2011.

His dedication and exemplary commitment to the service of his people earned him various positions in the senate such as Vice-Chairman Committee on Defense and Army, member of ECOWAS parliament, member committees on Air force, Science and Technology, Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, member capital market committee and also member Nigeria-Rwanda Friendship.

During his tenure at the Nigerian Senate the distinguished Senator has recorded tremendous achievements towards the development of his people. His performances remarkably exceeded that of his fellow Senators from the north east zone.

I am therefore more than privileged to present this great man, to this grand audience, for Blackcap most tolerant governor award.
