Gombe State goverment may have laid to rest why the new Mai Tangale in Biliri local government, Malam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba still operate from Gombe.

There had been insinuation that the newly crowned monarch abandoned his kingdom for threat and fear of attack by his subjects not disposed to his emergence.

It is observed that the monarch spends ample time in Gombe metropolis than his kingdom.

Speaking with Journalists in Gombe yesterday, the commissioner for internal security and ethical orientation, Adamu Dishi Kupto revealed that the “Mai is more in Gombe because his houses were seriously vandalized and destroyed during the Biliri crises.

“He (Mai Tangale) is in Gombe because miscreants vandalised his house.

“He is here pending when his house would be renovated by the state government,” he disclosed.

Regretting acts of vandalism, Dishi recalled that due process was followed in selecting the Mai.

He stated that though relative peace had returned to Biliri, Jessu and its environs, reason for which he said goverment reduced the curfew from 24-hour to 12-hour there, “but more cooperation is still expected from the citizenry,” he added.

It would be recalled that the circumstances that surrounded the emergence of Sanusi triggered protests that led to the death of three people and destruction of property worth several millions of naira.

The state government saw the protests as attempt to armtwist Governor Inuwa Yahaya from exercising the state Chieftaincy Law, 2020 that empowers him to pick anyone from the shortlisted list by the kingmakers irrespective of the votes scored during selection process.

Presenting letter of approval and appointment in Poshiya in Biliri to the new monarch, the commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo, said: the appointment of Malam Danladi Maiyamba was informed by his personal qualities and suitability.
