The unlimited Hypocrisy of American Govt.

Hypocrisy unlimited. I had said severally the hype about our president’s visit will be an anticlimax. As Macbeth said “an empty vessel full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

The number one priority of PMB’s government is security, crushing rebellious groups be it insurgents in the North East or militants in the Niger Delta region. At the end of the visit, we left empty handed on the issue of the supply of military hardware. The American govt made it clear without equivocation that they won’t sell arms to us because of human right abuses in prosecuting the war against insurgents as if it was the regime of PMB that allegedly committed the so called human rights violation.
Now folks tell me will America stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia in their prosecution of war against Yemen because of any human right violation? The answer is capital No. This is because of the strategic importance of Saudi Arabia in stabilizing their military, political, economic and social interests in the Middle East. Americans arms are sold to Israel despite their regular bombardment of innocent Palestinian souls. innocent souls of children and women of Palestinians have been waisted In the quest of Israel to rid the region of Palestinian terrorists, yet they are neither condemned nor are they sanctioned militarily as they now do to us.

Where do we turn to for arms at this critical stage of PMB’s determination to end insurgency? At the end we will go to China, Ukraine and possibly Russia to secure arms- the regions we don’t factor in our ranking of helpful nations. Remember but for the then USSR, our civil war story would have been different.

The earlier we consolidate our relationship with our real friends that are genuinely prepared to, relatively speaking, support us militarily, technologically economically, the better for us.

This our romance with US has been cultivated for so long and believe me I’m yet to see concrete meaningful results. On the contrary is story of the shedding of tears, sorrows and blood. They churn out anti people’s economic policies that further pauperized us. From structural adjustment programme, devaluation of our currency, free trade (where they know our goods can’t compute with their own) to arm twisting us to abrogate law proscribing the marriage of same sex. Can America dare ask Saudi not legislate against gay marriage or stop amputating the hand of a thief based on sharia since they consider such law obnoxious, Barbaric and uncivilized. I have over flogged this American hypocrisy, their lowly perception of us in the global equation.

What is important is for us to wake from dreaming about American wonder. let us, together with our genuine friends, reach out to our rich physical and mental strength and salvage this blessed Nation.
