President Bola Ahmed Tinubu turned 74 on Sunday, using the occasion to express gratitude to Nigerians for their support while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to overcoming economic challenges and building a prosperous future.
In a personal message released from Aso Villa, the President thanked citizens for their birthday wishes, prayers, and continued patriotism, describing the day as one filled with “joy and gratitude” for the opportunity to serve the nation.
He specifically acknowledged messages from those who placed congratulatory advertisements in newspapers and paid for airtime on radio and television.
President Tinubu also extended warm appreciation to his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her “kind and loving words,” and to Vice President Kashim Shettima for his tributes.
Consistent with his tradition of aligning birthday observances with the national mood, the President said he opted for a low-key celebration this year.
Reflecting on nearly three years in office, Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties triggered by his administration’s bold reform agenda but struck an optimistic note.
“I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms. I’m glad that our sacrifices have not been in vain as we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel,” he stated, while noting temporary setbacks linked to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
The President was careful to share credit for emerging positive outcomes, saying the gains “do not belong solely to me, our Renewed Hope team and to our government. We achieved the gains together.”
With the third anniversary of his administration approaching, Tinubu expressed deep conviction that Nigeria would succeed in creating a brighter future.
“We are determined to confront some of the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome,” he said.
He concluded by calling on all Nigerians to work together: “Let us continue to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa.”
The message comes as the administration continues to push economic reforms aimed at long-term stability, even as external factors such as rising global energy volatility from Middle East tensions add pressure on inflation and living costs.
Many Nigerians and political figures have already extended birthday greetings to the President, hailing his resilience and vision.
As the country looks toward 2027, Tinubu’s message is being seen by supporters as both a personal reflection and a renewed call for national unity behind the Renewed Hope agenda.
