Tragedy struck the peaceful state of Adamawa last night as Thomas Godwin, popularly known as Zamfara, was brutally murdered in cold blood while returning home.
The 49-year-old businessman and organizing secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Hong Local Government Area was ambushed by unknown assailants who beat him to death with sticks and clubs, according to the Adamawa State Police Command.
The incident, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the community, with many decrying the rising tide of violence in a state known for its tranquility.

Preliminary reports from the police indicate that Zamfara was attacked while riding his motorcycle home in Kala’a, a stark reminder of the growing insecurity that threatens to destabilize the region.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the murder, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, directing the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation (DC SCID) to ensure a thorough probe. “A team of detectives has been deployed to conduct the investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice,” said Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer, in a press release.
