Thousands of Adamawa citizens, alongside prominent figures from across Nigeria, gathered at the residence of the late Prof Jibril Aminu in Yola to observe the 3rd day prayers in honor of the revered statesman and academic icon.
The solemn event, marked by heartfelt tributes and prayers, underscored the enduring legacy of unity and transformation left behind by the late professor, who passed away last week.
The occasion was graced by high-profile dignitaries, including Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, Former Governor Bala James Nggilari,members of the state cabinet, and notable academics such as Prof. Umar Pate, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere.
Traditional leaders, including the Ptil of Madagali, Dr. Aliyu Danburam , and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, were also in attendance, reflecting the widespread admiration for Prof. Aminu’s contributions to Nigeria.
The atmosphere was one of reverence and reflection as mourners paid their respects to a man whose life’s work touched countless lives.

Prof. Umar Pate, speaking further, highlighted Aminu’s trailblazing efforts in advancing education and research. “He was a mentor to many and a champion of intellectual excellence,” Pate said, recalling Aminu’s instrumental role in Nigeria’s academic landscape.
Dr. Aliyu Danburam, the Ptil of Madagali, and Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, both of whom shared personal connections with the late professor, spoke of his humility and dedication to community welfare. The 3rd day prayers, a significant Islamic rite, saw the recitation of the Qur’an and supplications for the repose of Prof. Aminu’s soul.
