A Vice Principal of a private secondary school in Akure, Ondo State capital, has been brutally attacked by suspected thugs allegedly hired by the mother of a student after he prevented exam malpractice during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The victim, identified as Mr. Rotifa of Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, was beaten and left hospitalized after confiscating an Android phone from an SS3 student, Wisdom Elisa, during an examination session.
According to reports, the incident sparked a heated confrontation between the school management and the student’s mother, who later allegedly hired thugs to attack the Vice Principal.
The situation escalated when the student’s brother, an alumnus of the school, returned to harass and threaten Mr. Rotifa.

The Ondo State Ministry of Education has condemned the incident and promised to bolster security in the school during the remaining WASSCE papers.
In an official statement, the Director of Schools recounted the sequence of events leading up to the assault, revealing that the Vice Principal was dragged from a police van and beaten by the thugs.
The victim has been discharged from the hospital but fears for his safety. The school authorities have assured that further investigations and efforts to get the culprits are in progress.
This incident highlights the need for increased security measures to protect educators and school administrators from violence and intimidation, particularly during examination periods.
