Time Magazine has recognized Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and founder of the Dangote Group, as one of the World’s Top 100 Philanthropists in its 2025 list, celebrating his transformative contributions to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment across Africa.

Dangote, a Nigerian business magnate, earned his place on the prestigious list due to the impactful work of the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), which has donated billions of naira to initiatives addressing poverty, disease, and education disparities.
Notable efforts include a $500 million commitment to healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria, including donations to combat Ebola and COVID-19, and significant investments in university endowments to boost STEM education.

The Dangote Foundation’s recent $20 million pledge to support smallholder farmers through agricultural training and microfinancing was also highlighted, with programs empowering women and youth in rural Nigeria. Dangote’s efforts extend beyond Nigeria, with initiatives in Cameroon, Ghana, and South Africa focusing on clean water access and vocational training.

The Time 100 Philanthropists list, now in its third year, celebrates individuals whose charitable efforts have made significant global impact. Dangote joins other luminaries, including Melinda French Gates and MacKenzie Scott, in this year’s ranking.
