President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday, returned to the country after spending one month abroad.
Tinubu landed in Nigeria at about 4:30 pm on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
He had travelled out of the country after the March 18 governorship election.
On March 22, his media aide, Tunde Rahman, said his principal departed Lagos for Paris to take some rest and prepare for lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia and the Ramadan fasting.
Tinubu’s spokesman said the president-elect would also use the opportunity to plan his transition programme.
“The president-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (lesser hajj) and the Ramadan fasting that begins Thursday,” Rahman had said.
Following the trip, speculations gave rise to a controversy about the president-elect’s state of health.
While away, Tinubu also allegedly held a secret meeting with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola in the United Kingdom, a claim that had been denied by the All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council and the Supreme Court.
Tinubu will be sworn in as Nigeria’s president and successor to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari On May 29.
