A group of concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has called on President Bola Tinubu and the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to intervene and save the party from collapse.
Led by former state deputy chairman, Alhaji Saidu Naira, the stakeholders expressed fears that the APC, which has been losing its prominence in the state since 2019, shows little sign of improvement ahead of the 2027 elections.
Since the 2023 election, no genuine effort has been made to reconcile aggrieved members, leading to a sense of abandonment and defections
The APC, which once dominated the state’s political landscape, now has no senator, only three out of eight House of Representatives members, and eight House of Assembly members. The stakeholders attributed the party’s decline to intra-party wrangling and the hijacking of the party’s leadership by powerful individuals.
Naira lamented that since the 2023 election, no genuine effort has been made to reconcile aggrieved members, leading to a sense of abandonment and defections. He appealed to Ganduje to form a committee to visit Adamawa, listen to members, and take necessary steps to revive the party.
The stakeholders are worried that if urgent action is not taken, the APC may lose further ground in the state. They urged Tinubu and Ganduje to intervene and restore the party’s lost glory in Adamawa State.
