Tinubu promises to inject N2trn into economy

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, pledged to inject about N2 trillion into the nation’s economy to turn it around within six months.

Tinubu gave the indication while inaugurating the Presidential Economic Coordination Council in Abuja.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed this to newsmen after the inauguration.

Edun, who was flanked by the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; chatirman of Heirs Holding, Tony Elumelu; and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, said the N2 trillion initiative will be pumped into power and energy, agriculture, among others.

The Minister noted that the members are a mix of the top talents and stakeholders available in the country, saying the PECC is made up of members from the president’s economic team, the National Assembly, and the elite Organised Private sector.

Edun added, “Today, they were presented with the outcome of the stabilisation emergency plan to cover the next six months, a N2 trillion naira package.”

He further said that there are also Executive orders signed by the President and are being gazetted to ease the cost of doing business in Nigeria.

He assured that President Tinubu is focused on food security and has asked the Nutrition Council to go to work and provide for Nigerians food at an affordable price.
