The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima paid a visit to Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Tinubu visited Wike in the company of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu; Governors Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Babjide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi).

Others at the meeting include former governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo) as well as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva; among others.

Before stepping down to meet Wike at the Government House, Tinubu ran for office in the state.

Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation and governor of the Rivers, notably skipped the conference. Tonye Cole, the APC candidate for governor in Rivers, was also absent from the meeting.

Wike, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, is the leader of the G5 Governor of the PDP, who are working against their party’s presidento candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Others members of the G5 are governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

Their grouse is that both Atiku, and the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, are from the North. They had insisted that Ayu step down for a southern chairman but their demand failed on deaf ears.
