Tinubu’s ₦1.245tn Gombe-Biu Highway Project Earns Praise from APC North-East Youth Leader

The APC North-East Zonal Youth Leader, Comrade Joseph Mwadiyale, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualization of the 125-kilometre Gombe-Biu Highway, describing the ₦1.245 trillion project as a major milestone in the Federal Government’s drive to transform infrastructure and stimulate economic growth in the North-East region.

In a statement issued on June 6, 2026, Mwadiyale said the landmark road project reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure that will improve connectivity, enhance security, boost trade, and unlock the economic potential of the region.

According to him, the Gombe-Biu Highway will serve as a strategic economic corridor, facilitating the movement of goods and services, improving transportation networks, and creating employment opportunities for thousands of residents across the North-East.

“The project is more than just a road. It is a critical investment in the future of the North-East, one that will strengthen regional integration, support agricultural and commercial activities, and connect communities to broader economic opportunities,” he said.

The APC youth leader also praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his role in advancing the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda, noting that the ministry’s commitment to quality road construction and the use of modern rigid pavement technology demonstrates a focus on durable and sustainable development.

Mwadiyale further acknowledged the contributions of Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, whose support and collaboration, he said, were instrumental in facilitating the historic project.

He noted that the highway would significantly improve access to markets, encourage investment, and create a more business-friendly environment for entrepreneurs and investors across the region.

“As youths of the North-East, we are encouraged by this development because it will open new economic opportunities, stimulate growth, and contribute to long-term prosperity for our people,” he stated.

The APC zonal youth leader urged President Tinubu, the Ministry of Works, and other relevant stakeholders to sustain the momentum of infrastructure development in the North-East, emphasizing that critical projects remain essential for economic recovery and regional development.

He expressed optimism that more transformative projects would be delivered across the region under the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that residents are already witnessing tangible dividends of governance through ongoing federal investments.

The reconstruction and dualization of the Gombe-Biu Highway is expected to improve transportation efficiency, reduce travel time, enhance security along the corridor, and strengthen economic ties between the North-East and other parts of Nigeria as well as neighbouring West African countries.
