The state and National Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Yola,Adamawa state has strict out the petition of Senator Binta Masi challenging the election of Senator Cliff Elisha Abbo.
The tribunal Thursday upheld the election of Sen.Elisha Ishaku Abbo of the PDP as the Senate elect representing Adamawa North senatorial district in the National Assembly as Binta headed to court of appeal to seek for redress for the judgment passed by the tribunal.
Binta through her counsel,Barr Bashir Yakubu said her hope is high as the the judgement will be upturn at the court of appeal which will consider the sensitivity and complexity of the case.
Bashir said the last senatorial election in Adamawa northern zone was marred with non use of card readers, ballot snatching and over voting is a main cause of the election of Senator Cliff Elisha be upturn in favor of Binta.
Delivering judgement on the petition filed by sen.Binta Masi Garba of APC the presiding judge, justice. S. A Akanbi said that, the partitioner has failed to convince the tribunal over her allegations of over voting to warrant the tribunal order for rerun as demanded by the partitioner.
He further noted that all the issues raised by the partitioned cannot be proved with facts and evidence but mostly based on hearsay and speculation which is not admissible in law and therefore struck out the partition for lack of merit.
Reacting to the judgement Sen. Abbo commended the judiciary for standing behind the truth and restoring the hopes of the common unlike in the past when only the rich get away with justice.
He called on the youths to raised up to the challenged and take their destiny in their hands by joining active politics to change their narrative
Even as he assured the people of his senatorial district of better representation and more dividends of democracy stressing that he will do everything possible within his power to bring succour to his people who are still facing with challenges of Boko Haram insurgency.
