The National and House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has on Tuesday confirmed Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of election Adamawa South Senatorial Zone.
The three man panel tribunal chaired by Justice Suleiman Akombi, dismissed the petition of the candidate of All Progressives Party (APC), Senator Mohammed Abubakar Mo-Allahyidi, over failure to provide concrete evidence to back his allegations and claims that the election was marred with corrupt practices, rigging, irregularities and over voting.
Senator Abubakar Mo-Allahyidi who lost to Senator Binos Yaroe filed a petition challenging the victory of Senator Binos.
Similarly, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Alhaji Muktar Kabiru of People’s Democratic Party challenging the victory of Alahji Abdulrazak Namdas of the All Progressives Congress.
The Co- tribunal Judge, Justice Akumbiyi dismissed the petition over lack of evidence by the petitioner to back up the allegations and claims that the election was marred with irregularities.
Likewise the tribunal also dismissed the petition filed by Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi of All Progressives Congress challenging the victory of Mr. Komato Bitrus of People’s Democratic Party PDP.
The second tribunal Judge, Justice Dalha Ahmad, who dismissed the petition after reading over 200 pages of the judgement, said the evidences provided by the petitioner alleging that, the election was marred with irregularities and over voting lacking in merit to back the evidences.
The Counsel to Senator Binos Yaroe, Alhaji Muktar Kabiru and Mr. Komota Bitrus, Barrister Leonard Dzadom, expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the tribunal.
He said this was a victory for democracy and the rule of law saying, even the parties that did not won can attest that fair hearing was accorded to all parties.
Counsel to APC, Barrister Chris Okougha, commended the tribunal for its maturity in delivery a fair judgement to all parties.
The Adamawa State Legal Adviser for the All Progressives Congress, Barrister Shagna Pwamaddi, said the party would proceed to appeal the cases they have lost.
He pointed out that the judgement elaborate the 2015 instead of the 2019.
He however commended the panel of Judges and Counsels at the tribunal for the matured handling of the proceedings.
