A 70-year-old resident of Jimeta metropolis, Usman Ibrahim is currently cooling his heels at the state police command over alleged rape of two minors.

A statement by the command’s image maker, SP Sulaiman Nguroje noted that the incident took place at Ajiya street, Jimeta, Yola North LG.

“Adamawa state police command, On 4/04/2023 apprehended a 70-year-old man for raping two minors of 4 and 7 years old in Ajiya street Jimeta,Yola North local government area.

“The suspect, Usman Ibrahim was said to have lured the two victims into his room Situated at a close distance to the Victims and took advantage of them while on their way going to Lesson class and had unlawful carnal knowledge of them.

“The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jimeta by the father of the Victims having observed Unusual pains from the Kids while urinating.

“Preliminary investigation so far reveals that the Suspect is a father of three and now living alone after he Separated from his wife 10years ago.

“The Commissioner of police CP Afolabi Babatola expressed worry over the unfortunate incident, directed Officer in charge of Family support unit of the State CID to take over investigation and ensure deligent prosecution.

“The police boss equally advice members of the public particularly parents to be very watchful of their kids against criminal minded elements who are roaming about seeking whom to take advantage of and report person(s) of suspicious Character to the Police.

“He equally calls on the General public especially Parents to key into the Command’s Fight against all forms of Gender based violence and promised to prosecute perpetrators in accordance with the extant laws,” Nguroje said.
