UK Based Nigerian Actress Bags Award.

The United Kingdom based movie Producer and Actress, Florence Okonkwo, popularly known as the Queen of red carpet has bagged 2018 Africa Film Academic Award in Abuja.

The award presentation ceremony which was put together by Magic Lens Africa Film Academy took place recently had Florence Okonkwo as the winner for her dexterity and professionalism.

The Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State born producer, actress who has won many accolades both locally and internationally, some of her recent movie includes ‘Love Conquers’ which won best actress motion pictures at Hollywood and Africa Prestigious Award (HAPA) held in Los Angelos, America.

Ms Okonkwo attended Nazareth Primary School and Holy Child College Ikoyi Lagos. She then attended Lagos State University where she bagged a degree in Banking and Finance.

She also studied atMiddlesex University UK for her MA in marketing.

Chief Executive Officer of (MAFAA),one of the orginizers of the award,Charles Awurum pointed out that the origination gave the award to her after studying and observed the passion she has for movie and also one of the few Africans in the United Kingdom making sure that movie industry in Africa survives and grows to meet up with the standard of the Western World.

Award recipient, Florence Okonkwo said, the award was distinctive, unique and special honour, not only to her, but to the entire peace loving, creative people of the movie industry describing it as challenge, as well as an encouragement for her to do even better.

She urged upcoming Artists, especially producers and directors to be committed and dedicated to duty in their chosen profession.

“This award shows that people around you appreciate you for what you do, i urged the younger ones to know that hard work pays, all you need is to have the desire and passion for whatever profession”.

“I will soon storm Nigeria for movie shut particularly Taraba State, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and among others State in the Northeast”

“I appreciate all my fans, family and friends for supporting and recognising my hard work and commitment in the movie industry.

“My gratitude to the organisers especially MAFAA for appreciating my efforts in repositioning Nollywood to world, as well encouraging movie production in Africa”. she said

Celebrities present at the event includes Kanayo O Kanayo, Vitalis Ndubuisi, Florence Okonkwo, John Okafor, Francis Duru, Stan K Amadi, Linc Edochie, Agility Onwurah, AGN President, Emeka Rollas, Nazareth Jesse among others.

Ms Okonkwo were an award in recognition of her volunteer work sickle cell and stroke survivors, an award by the founder of Sickle Cell and young stroke Survivor 2011. Ms Okonkwo created awareness

She has received numerous awards entertainment industry and Humanitarian awards within and outside the country.
