When people have no purpose in life, they live by the dictates of their instincts.

When doing the wrong things become the norm, then trying to do the right things attract condemnation and insults.

When people are used to lies, then telling the truth becomes arrogance.

This is the case of a citizen and a governor, who tries to change the status quo. How would a governor elected by the people attract condemnation and insults for trying to use public funds for public good?

A popular Nigerian politician was quoted as describing a decent man as ‘ good governor but a bad party man’ for not bringing public funds to him in the name of funding the party. That, of course, was his only offence that eventually disqualified him from returning to the exalted office.

But for how long shall we continue to live as people without purpose? Have we not sufficiently been deprived of the benefits of our God given wealth?

How can a group of people continue to feed fat on our common patrimony while we perish in abject poverty, deprivation and starvation?

On what grounds would a citizen open his mouth to insult his governor for doing things out of the norm?

Are you insulting the governor for not using state funds to build houses for party chieftains?

Are you calling the governor minority for not sharing the money meant for the well-being of the masses to politicians to spend on wasteful life styles like traveling to Dubai with prostitutes?

Are you insulting the governor for assisting you with N200,000? How much do you have wanted him give you?

Are you insulting a governor for bringing development in the State? When last did you see governor get so committed to constructing roads and flyovers in the state capital?

Are you insulting the governor for building cottage hospitals, urban and rural roads, renovation and construction of over 5000 class rooms in all the 21 LGAs of the state?

Are you insulting the governor for his massive reforms in the state civil service and prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements?

Are you insulting the governor for paying NECO and WAEC fees for all SS 3 students in Adamawa State for over three years now?

Are you insulting the governor for sponsoring Christian pilgrims to Rome and Jerusalem and Muslim pilgrims to Mecca?

Are you insulting the governor for paying over 1,500 vigilant youths N46,000 monthly for over three years now to protect citizens against Boko Haram, kidnappers and other forms of insecurity?

Are you insulting the governor for ensuring our state capital is free of yan shilas?

Are you insulting the governor for providing a peaceful society?

Are you insulting the governor for restoring the prestige and respect of our first class chiefs.

Are you insulting the governor for building 1,000 unit housing estate for the masses of the state?

Are you insulting the governor for improving the internally generated revenue of the state?

This is most shameful to see that while other states have people sing praises of their governor for doing absolutely nothing in the state, in Adamawa State, performance only attracts condemnation and insults.

When will we learn to appreciate what we have? Many states would love to have Governor Umaru Fintiri as their governor even when we despise him. A cow does not know the usefulness of its tail until it is cut off.
