All Progressives Congress (APC) opposition party in Adamawa have vowed to take over government from the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.
Their firm decision was heard by our correspondent on the general views and opinions of stakeholders of the party during what they said unity meeting with the PDP, ADC and SDP defectors at the party secretariat in Yola.
APC state chapter of the Caretaker community Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal while addressing the defectors and their supporters said they are now united to make another APC government in state.
According to him their coming together is a force that will bring another change in the entire state because APC crisis led to formation ADC and with many others joined the SDP else PDP would not have win the election.
“If we are united, taking back the government is as simple as possible to win all elections at all levels in the state.” Bilal said
The interim chairman, Bilal further said the purpose of the gathering tagged “unity meeting” is to tell all defectors that they have equal rights with the existing members of the party in the scheme of party affairs.
“The newly members of our party from the ADC, PDP, SDP have equal rights to be registered and to contest election.
” We urge all members of the party not to see them as strangers but partners in progress. The purpose of this unity meeting is to forge unity of purpose and to tell every member new and old that we have equal rights and to also reiterate that we shall treat every member justly and fairly,”
“Injustice is one of the blights that cost us victory in 2019, that is why we are calling on all of us to be our brothers keepers and to ensure justice is done to all manner of members new and old. With such resolve, victory is surely ours come 2023,” he said.
It may be recalled that the APC has recorded an influx of defections from various political parties into its fold with the ruling PDP mainly at the receiving end, having lost a senator and an ex-governor and ex- legislators to APC.
In the same vein, it has also attracted huge mileage when the ADC superintended by Abdulaziz Murtala Nyako collapsed its structure into the APC just as the gubernatorial candidate of SDP in 2019 election Emmanuel Bello also shifted tent with the party.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the various blocks and interests that fused into the APC called for justice and fairness, noting that with such mindset defeating the ruling party in the state is a task already accomplished.
