A resident of Rumde, a superb settlement of Yola North Local Government area of Adamawa State, Alhaji Sabo Aliyu Rumde praised the urban renewal mandate of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Sabo said the Governor has transformed the face of Adamawa State and successfully brought back the beauty of the state that was portrayed in a negative stories which was initially believed is the land of beauty.
Sabo however said the Governor will score more goals if the Jimeta-Yola bypass road under his regime is rehabilitated.
According to him the administration of Fintiri’s with focused on urban and rural renewal mandate is highly recommendable and a pride of everyone that the city once in a sorry state is becoming the envy of many States in the Northern region.
He however drew the attention of Fintiri who he described the fresh air Governor of Northern Nigeria to rehabilitate the Jimeta Bypass road that’s causing a lot of economy backlashes to the people of Adamawa State.
Sabo said is aware that the road is a federal government road and contracts were awarded in difference instalments and different administrations but yet nothing is tangible is seen despite contract variations to billion of Naira.
He recalled how Babachir David Lawan and Barr Boss Mustapha who were board former SGFs stood their grounds and played a significant role in making sure the Bypass from FGGC Yola upto to Mubi was reconstructed, but wonder why is far from near completion till date.
He worried that the lagging in reconstructing the only road (Bypass) that Link the entire Northern Adamawa senatorial district, States of Borno and Yobe, the countries of Cameroon, Central Africa and even Mali is destroying lives and properties in larger quantities.
Sabo who is a Local Farmer blamed the dilapidated state of the road as one of causes of perennial flood in Jimeta and its environs.
He said the floods this year because of the many blockages in the bypass has destroyed farms lands and produce, many houses and bridges across Adamawa State are destroyed.
He called the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to look inward and go on with the onward work of the incomplete bypass road.
Sabo understand that the bypass is on the federal government trunk A road and the project that is suffering neglect was awarded by the federal government, he said that the fly overs, round about constructed and some under construction by Fintiri’s led administration are all on the federal government roads.
He therefore said the beauty of Adamawa State is never complete if the dilapidated bypass road is not worked on to spur Social economy activities and bring about social cohesion of people with business ideas in the State to thrive.
“I’m confident that Governor Fintiri is capable to fix that road, he can do it any how. He can either follow up with the ministry of works under David Nweze Umahi leadership or use the State resources to work the road.” Sabo said
He also recalled how Former Governor Murtala Nyako reconstructed the Numan -Yola road and the federal government later reimbursed him and begged Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to borrow a Clue if possible in making sure that the bypass that lead to Northern part of the state is rehabilitated.
He gave a historical background that the bypass has been a tran-sahara trade route and remains so till to date for business and travelers from South eastern to North Eastern parts of Nigeria.
“It’s high time that the road be constructed no matter what the political interests of key players are. We are in the cross road now that all critical stakeholders must ignore all primordial sentiments to ensure the bypass work awarded in difference instalments by passed administrations is finished.
