US Offers $10 Million Reward for Infor on Iran’s New Supreme Leader, Other Top Officials

The United States State Department has announced a reward of up to $10 million for credible information leading to the location, identification, or prosecution of Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, along with nine other senior Iranian officials linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The announcement, made through the department’s long-standing “Rewards for Justice” program, comes amid escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The program, administered by the Diplomatic Security Service, offers cash incentives and potential relocation assistance for tipsters who provide actionable intelligence on individuals accused of directing or supporting terrorism worldwide.

“These individuals command and direct various elements of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plans, organises and executes terrorism around the world,” a State Department statement said. Tipsters are encouraged to submit information securely via Tor-based channels or the encrypted messaging app Signal.

Among those targeted are Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, Minister of Intelligence and Security Esmail Khatib, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, and other high-ranking figures associated with the IRGC and Iran’s security apparatus.

The reward applies collectively or individually, depending on the value of the intelligence provided.

The move follows the dramatic death of Mojtaba Khamenei’s father, the long-serving Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a bombing on February 28, 2026.

That strike marked the opening salvo of a joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which targeted key leadership compounds in Tehran and resulted in the deaths of several top officials alongside the elder Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei, aged 56, was swiftly selected as his father’s successor by Iran’s Assembly of Experts shortly after the strikes.

Reports indicate he may have been injured in the same attacks some US officials have described him as “wounded” or “likely disfigured” and he has made limited public appearances since assuming the role. His first public statement, released earlier this week, called for retaliation against the US and Israel.

The US designation of the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization since 2019 provides the legal basis for the bounties, framing the targeted officials as key architects of Iran’s alleged global terrorist activities.

Iranian authorities have condemned the reward offer as an act of aggression and interference in its internal affairs, with officials vowing continued resistance amid the war.

The conflict has already seen retaliatory Iranian strikes on regional targets, raising fears of broader escalation in the Middle East.

The “Rewards for Justice” program has historically paid out millions for tips leading to the capture or disruption of high-profile targets. Officials emphasized that information could qualify informants for both financial rewards and safe relocation.
