The establishment of the University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Bama is a crucial step towards promoting sustainable development, addressing food security challenges, and fostering entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

Hon. Abdulrahman Terab FIMC, is a son of the soil, an administrator, a grassroot and dogged politician who served at various capacity as commissioner in different ministries, before emerging as member who represented the good people of Bama, ngala and kala-balge federal Constituency at the green chamber.

Hon Terab knows the positive impact the university will create to the council and Borno state at large, that’s the more reason he call on every well meaning person not just from bama but the whole borno state and sundry to come together and support the initiative for a prosperous transformative agenda among others.

Hon. Terab listed few positive impacts among others. a) Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship; The university will provide entrepreneurship education, equipping graduates with the skills to establish and manage successful businesses, thereby reducing unemployment and stimulating economic growth. b) Agricultural Development; By focusing on agriculture, the university will contribute to food security, improve agricultural practices, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global agricultural market. c) Human Capital Development;

The institution will produce skilled manpower in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and related fields, addressing the nation’s needs for expertise in these areas. d) Regional Growth;

Establishing the university in Bama, Borno State, will stimulate regional growth, create job opportunities, and promote socio-economic development in the Northeastern part of Nigeria, especially as it becomes the first of such dedicated Universities in the Region. e) Global Competitiveness; Graduates of the university will be equipped to compete globally, leveraging cutting-edge knowledge and innovative practices in agriculture and entrepreneurship. f) Legislative Precedent;

The proposed university aligns with existing legislative efforts, such as the Federal University of Education Hong (Establishment) Bill, 2023, and the Federal College of Geological and Cement Studies Iselu, Yewa North Ogun State (Establishment) Bill, 2023. g) Conclusion;

The establishment of the University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Bama will have far-reaching benefits for Nigeria’s economic, social, and agricultural development. We urge the Senate through the Committee of Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND to consider and support this proposal.
