In a landmark moment for democratic governance in Adamawa State, Hon. (Barr.) Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin has hailed the swearing-in of the Vice Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) as a triumph for the rule of law.

The ceremony, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, marks a significant step toward reinforcing constitutional integrity and accountability in the state.

Speaking at a press conference today, Hon. Dasin emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “With the swearing-in of the Chairman of Fufore LGA, I believe all citizens who uphold the ‘rule of law’ are rejoicing, while those who favor ‘rule by law’ are not.”

The swearing-in follows a period of contention, resolved by adherence to Section 22(1) of the Adamawa State Local Government Law 2000, which mandates that the Vice Chairman assume the office of Chairman in the event of a vacancy due to death, resignation, or removal.

Hon. Rule by law, however, allows those in power to selectively apply laws, undermining justice and equality.”

He outlined five essential elements of the rule of law: equality before the law, clear and just legislation, open governance, an independent judiciary, and separation of powers. “Anything short of this is not rule of law,” he asserted.
