VP Shettima Leads Nigerian Delegation to World Economic Forum in Davos

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos to lead Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which runs from January 19 to 23, 2026.

The Vice President was received on arrival by Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and officials of the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.

This follows his recent representation of President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya in Conakry, Guinea.

This year’s forum marks a significant milestone for Nigeria, as the Federal Government has established its first-ever dedicated sovereign pavilion, “Nigeria House Davos”, on the Davos Promenade. The facility, developed through a Public-Private Partnership, will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the week.

Vice President Shettima is expected to formally commission Nigeria House during his visit.

Speaking to journalists after the arrival, Minister Jumoke Oduwole said Nigeria would present a robust showcase of investment opportunities at the launch of the pavilion.

“We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she said. “We will present our solid minerals sector, climate sustainability, agriculture, and creative and digital sectors to investors from all over the world.”

The Vice President will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders and participate in plenary sessions on the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.

He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, executives from multinational corporations, and leaders of international development finance institutions during the forum.

The annual Davos meeting brings together thousands of participants, including heads of government, chief executives, civil society leaders, and journalists, to discuss pressing global issues including economic challenges, technological innovation, and climate action.
