The Director General of West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAPGA), Mrs. Chafari Kanya Hanawa in her Maitama office, Abuja was in received of the Managing Director (MD) of the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) Mr. Greg Germani from Accra – Ghana who paid her a courtesy visit to foster synergy of the two west African companies
Greg was in WAPGA office in company of WAPCo’s General Counsel of, Ms Evelyn A. Orumwense, the Deputy Manager, External Relations WAPCo, Mr. Temitope Felix Sodeinde.
DG Chafari in her company also is the Director, Market Surveillance & Development Mr. Ernest Abankroh both welcome the WAPCo MD.
The MD took the opportunity of the visit to review progress on key issues concerning WAGP activities like:
1. The proposed amendment of the WAGP working documents such as the WAGP Act, the WAGP Regulations and the International Project Agreement (IPA)
2. The new WAGP Network Code (WNC) and
3. Update on WAPCo business development among others.
The DG noted that WAGPA has sent the revised proposal for the amendment of the WAGP Act and the WAGP Regulations to the four (4) countries (Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana) for their further actions and that WAGPA will be working with them to expediate actions on the amendments.
WAPCo on their part said they will work on the amendment of the IPA to obtain the first draft which they will share with WAGPA.
On the WAGP Network Code, the MD of WAPCo informed the DG on the progress made which is nearing completion. It will be followed with processes for implementation. Full implementation of WAGP Network Code will however be subject to the amendment of the WAGP Act.
In a statement signed by the Executive Assistant to the DG-WAGPA, Kamoka Komi said the meeting was also to touch briefly on gas supply on the WAGP and both parties agreed to work together for the success of the WAGP.
